What is propolis?
Propolis is a substance used by bees to protect their hive from impurities. Even the ancient Greeks were familiar with propolis, and the name is purported to come from them: pro polis = before the city. Propolis mainly consists of resins and wax from tree buds, as well as pine and spruce resin, but the precise chemical composition of propolis can vary depending on where in the world the bees live and the plants they have access to.
Harvested with care
The bees gather the ingredients on their forays and then transform them into propolis, which they spread around their hive. So as not to disturb the balance in the hive, a bee community only collects around 80–100 grams of propolis each season. And to ensure the quality of our product, Forever’s propolis is gathered using special collection tools.
